RJ Andrews is obsessed with data graphics.
He designs high‑stakes charts, diagrams, and maps that help teams see our complex world clearly. RJ founded Visionary Press to celebrate the craft behind information grpahics and writes the Chartography newsletter each week. He hosts tours of the Andrews Collection of Information Graphics in San Francisco.
RJ's obsession began at the MIT Media Lab. He later learned the power of clear data work in academic medicine before branching out to serve a broad range of organizations. In early 2020, he returned to public health, producing daily graphic reports for the White House. His latest book is Info We Trust, Remastered—a "love letter to data storytelling."
RJ studies the history of information design to learn new ways to solve information problems and make graphics clear, persuasive, and humane. That research feeds directly into RJ’s practice and teaching—through talks, workshops, and publications that celebrate charts, maps, and diagrams as tools for shared understanding.
